Special Library Features

In addition to the many events and programs offered at the Library, we also have a variety of special features available for patrons. These include our Writer’s Station blog, our S.T.E.M. (science, technology, engineering, and math) kits, and our ongoing digitization of Rochester High School yearbooks from 1958 onwards.

S.T.E.M. Kits

The U.S. Department of Education stresses the importance of the S.T.E.M. fields–Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math–for helping youth develop critical thinking and deductive reasoning skills that are crucial in our increasingly complex world. To encourage kids of all ages to explore the S.T.E.M. fields, and to assist teachers who would like to incorporate S.T.E.M. activities into their classrooms, the Library offers a variety of S.T.E.M. kits for checkout. See what kits we have available by visiting this page!

The Library has more for you to checkout than just books! We also offer a variety of electronic devices, like GoPro cameras, Roku and Amazon FireStick digital media players, and eBook readers preloaded with best-selling titles. Visit our Technology page to see what devices we have available for checkout!

Writer’s Station Blog

Each month, a new writing prompt is posted inside the Library at our Writer’s Station. Completed submissions are added to our Community Storybook inside the Library, as well as to our Writer’s Station Blog. Visit the Writer’s Station Blog to see past submissions by local writers, or to check out our previous writing prompt in case you need some writing inspiration!

The Library is currently in the process of uploading the digitized Rochester High School yearbooks (from 1958 to 2013) to our website. Look back at over fifty years of Rochester history by visiting our Yearbooks page!

Orange Judd

The Library has digitized the 1918 Orange Judd Pictorial Album of Rochester Township and Village, and you can now access the book online as a digital “flipbook”.
